Myopia prevention and eye protection for children

Eyesapp is an app for MYOPIA prevention and other visual diseases in children by controlling their distance from the screen, time of use and breaks.

According to ophthalmologists, optometrists and pediatrics the main causes of myopia and other visual problems in children is due to the time our children spend in front of the screens as well as the distance between the devices and their eyes. The increase in cases of myopia in children in recent years is alarming and MYOPIA is even being referred to as the epidemic of the 21st century.

One way of preventing the appearance of myopia in children is Eyesapp which follows the recommendations of experts in terms of time, distance and visual exercices, complying with rule 20-20-20.

How does it work?

1 - Install the app.

2 - Create a parental profile by simply entering your email and password.

3 - Create as many user profiles as needed.

4 - Set the session time and let Eyesapp protect your family's eyes.

5 - Eyesapp works in the background, continuously controlling the distance between the eyes and the screen, it will interrupt the activity when it is less than 30 cm until the safety distance is recovered.

6 - Every 20 minutes our fun robot will activate a rest period with the aim of resting your eyes. During this period, the user will have to take their eyes off the screen, perform blinking exercises to moisten the eye and focus on lenses at a distance of approximately 6m (20 feet) to relax their vision.

MYOPIA AND SCREENS

Mobile devices (mobile and tablet) are becoming a key element in everyone's life. As a consequence our eyes spend an important part of the day glued to a screen which has negative effects on our visual health.

Various studies have shown a worrying increase in visual diseases in children and adolescents, especially myopia, which occurs when the eyeball is too long in relation to the focusing power of the cornea and lens of the eye. Light is focused in front of the retina making distant objects appear blurry. This problem is aggravated at developmental ages in which the eyeball is adaptable, if we overexpose our eyes to work at too short a distance they adapt by interpreting myopia as the normal state.

95% of what we learn is through sight. Normally children are not aware of suffering visual problems. Therefore, it is very important to detect if their visual capacity is correct by carrying out periodic examinations and thus avoid weighing down the formative development of the children in their first years of life, which is fundamental for all their later educational stage.

MYOPIA has no cure, therefore it is important to prevent its appearance and control its later development especially in children and adolescents between 5 and 18 years of age by creating healthy digital habits.
